Overview & Reviews
Only minor changes are made to Chevrolet's bread-and-butter Silverado pickup for 2002. Some options packages have been revamped for easier ordering and all extended-cab models now come standard with a four-speed automatic transmission, with the manual no longer available.
- Roomy extended cab models, strong V8 engines, available composite bed, disc brakes at all four corners, optional traction control.
- Cheap interior materials, sketchy build quality.

Love this Z-71 - 2002 Chevrolet Silverado 1500
By Content - March 1 - 2:00 amThis is my third Chevy/GMC truck since 1997, but my first 4WD. I have had great luck with this one. NO problems at all. These trucks continue to impress me. The only ting that I think could have been improved is the grill design and they took care of that starting with the 2003 models. Great truck.

great performance - 2002 Chevrolet Silverado 1500
By w.c. - December 22 - 11:26 pmWe use our Silverado to pull livestock trailers. The performance has been outstanding. The tow/haul mode provides the power and smooth shifting we desire and the back seat room is much improved from the 95 K1500 we had. The 4WD kicks in immediately and is a pleasure in those tight spots.

Bad Trans - 2002 Chevrolet Silverado 1500
By jrmchevy - August 18 - 10:00 amWith 2000 miles on the truck, the transmission fluid line detached and dumped all fluid. After re-building the trans, the truck bumps in and out of gear roughly. Been in the shop 5 times now for same problem - only 4000 miles!

LOVE THIS TRUCK!!!! - 2002 Chevrolet Silverado 1500
By rick1733 - July 4 - 2:32 pmBought a 2002 Chevy Silverado in 2004. It had 39,000 miles on it. I was a bit nervous I was paying too much but I was betting the engine would make my deal a sweet one. Ive got a bit over 230,00 miles on it now. Itll be ten years ago this fall I bought it. NEVER had an issue. NOT one. Had to have the fuel injection-stuff cleaned out at about 185k miles... that kinda sucked but I guess it comes with maintenance. Lookn for a vehicle for my twin sons. Seems every vehicle I look up, including this truck, someone has had transmission issues. I felt compelled to write a review on my Chevy. NO ISSUES. EVERRR!!! God Bless this TRUCK!!!

truck - 2002 Chevrolet Silverado 1500
By radlt1mo - May 25 - 2:00 amThis is my second Silverado. All complaints I had about the previous truck have been addressed on this new one. Much tighter turning radius than my 97. Much roomier extended cab. Controls are all placed very conveniently.

Safety Hazard - 2002 Chevrolet Silverado 1500
By DH - March 14 - 10:00 amMy truck is just ok. Nothing spectacular. However, the most serious problem with this vehicle is that there is an air-conditioner solid tube that is routed directly over the distributer, cap and rotor. Every six to ten months, the continuous water dripping onto the distributer corrodes the internal electronics and the vehicle is subject to unexpected stalling without the possibility of restarting. This vehicle is very dangerous, yet Chevrolet refuses to admit this design flaw to date. I have a lemon law case file in progress and notifying local news sources in an effort to save other people from this neglegence.

Chevys Are the Best - 2002 Chevrolet Silverado 1500
By JAGII - December 24 - 9:06 pmGreat all around truck! Very smooth ride. Feels better than driving a car. Interior is comfortable. Awesome power. Everything a truck should be. A few adjustments need to be made though. Otherwise the best truck out there. I tow a boat and have a 5 point wiring hook up, this truck only has a 7 point hook-up. This requires me to buy an adapter. The rear a/c vent is a plus! I think a rear locking differential would have been better than limited slip.
